cube sashiko denim

Three styles. One fabric.

Each piece draws from a different origin — Japan, America, and France.

What is Sashiko?

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese craft that flourished in the Tohoku region during the Edo period.

By stitching geometric patterns through layered hemp or cotton cloth, artisans created textiles that were both warm and remarkably durable.

The distinctive texture and the way the fabric deepens with use are hallmarks of true craftsmanship.

From samurai practice garments to fishermen's workwear, sashiko has long been trusted wherever strength was needed.

omoto denim approach

Our sashiko is designed as a single-layer piece for effortless everyday wear. By using the same indigo yarn in the warp as our denim, each garment develops its own character with wear. More wear, more wonderful.

About the Fabric

Indigo yarn in the warp and black yarn in the weft create a deep, layered color unique to this fabric. Woven in a sashiko-inspired cube pattern, the surface has a structured, tactile quality — while remaining remarkably soft.

12oz CUBE SASHIKO fabric close-up

At 12oz, the fabric carries a presence close to denim — yet light enough to wear as a single layer. Designed to be thrown on in any season.

With wear, the peaks and valleys of the cube pattern fade at different rates, developing a contrast that is entirely your own.
